When a man dies
from cyanide poisoning on live television, One-Ten assigns Steed to find a professional assassin code-named Mr. Teddy Bear.
Steed is aided by his new partner, Mrs. Catherine Gale; in this, her first undercover assignment, she helps Steed to locate
the assassin, and then negotiates a deal with him: to murder Steed. When Mr. Teddy Bear makes an attempt on Steed's life,
he narrowly fails; the assassin becomes suspicious, and tricks Mrs. Gale into returning to him. Realising that her cover has
been blown, Mrs Gale has no choice but to do what he says, even if it means taking a ‘sleeping pill’ to ensure
her silence...

Steed is assigned
to meet a courier carrying a sample of a new top-secret liquid rocket fuel at Marseilles
airport in France. But before Steed can reach him the courier
dies, dropping his drinking flask unnoticed somewhere in the airport. Believing the fuel sample to be in the man's case, Steed
breaks into the airport security office to investigate, but is attacked by another agent also on the hunt for the fuel. Mrs.
Gale then learns of the existence of the drinking flask, as well as a bottle of hair restorer. At every turn in their search
for the rocket fuel, Steed and Mrs Gale run into the enemy, but they are eventually able to secure the sample at a bakery.
13/10/1962 The Decapod

Yakob Borb, the
president of the Balkan Republic, is visiting London to negotiate a contract for
aid with the British government. But when his private secretary is mysteriously killed, Steed is called in to investigate.
After persuading one of his contacts, the nightclub singer Venus Smith, into posing as Borb's secretary, Steed witnesses another
murder involving Borb's bodyguard at a wrestling match. The murderer is apparently a famous masked wrestler known as ‘The
Decapod’; after Steed talks to the man who wears the mask, another bodyguard is killed. Steed suspects that all is not
what it seems, and fears that Venus may be caught in the middle...

Anderson's, an
old and established British arms manufacturer, falls under suspicion when their weapons are found illegally in Africa.
In order to investigate, Steed gets Mrs. Gale involved as a shareholder with a twenty-percent stock. Henry Cade, a shrewd
and obnoxious businessman threatens to buy out the company, but then the shareholders are mysteriously killed one by one,
leaving the company ripe for a take-over. It seems that Mrs. Gale Cathy will end up holding the largest remaining share, which
will give Cade a controlling majority, and make her the next target for murder...

Montreal (Dr. Martin King)
When the stand-in
for Carla Berottithe, an adored but neurotically unstable film star, is murdered, the actress leaves her job and takes off
on a cruise to Montreal. Doctor King, Steed's new assistant, is assigned as her
personal physician, while Steed also goes undercover as a steward. Carla is confronted by her husband, the ship's captain,
who puts pressure on her her to hand over a stolen microfilm she is carrying, which contains details of the North American
early warning system. King and Steed also attempt to recover the film, but Carla's unstable, pill-popping state, and her secret
lover, all combine to hinder their mission...

trail of an organisation that commits high-profile assassinations for a very high price, whose latest target is a young French
film star and sex-symbol, who has recently made the mistake of making political statements. After Steed coerces Venus into
carrying out some investigating for him, he poses as a new assassin for hire in order to infiltrate the organisation. But
when Venus sees Steed leave with the film star, she unwittingly tells one of the other assassins about his fake murder job,
and putting both their lives at risk…

Steed and Mrs.
Gale investigate the death of the owner of a stamp-collecting shop. They trace the murder to a stamp-collecting auction, and
discover that an extremely rare stamp is listed up on the catalogue list. After another man is murdered, Mrs. Gale puts her
knowledge of philately to practice and takes a job as an assistant in the stamp shop, where she discovers the body of the
first murdered man. Meanwhile, Steed follows the trail to a dental practise, and encounters a ruthless female dentist with
an Eastern European accent. Steed discovers that she is a member of ‘New Rule’, a fanatic political group preparing
to take over the world by simultaneously overthrowing the British and several other European governments…

After a man named
George Miller is rushed to hospital for injuries suffered in a car crash, doctors find £50,000 in diamonds in his stomach.
Steed and Mrs. Gale investigate Miller's practical-joke shop, ‘Big Laugh’, and then track down Mr. Litoff, the
owner of the diamonds. Even though the Litoff Organisation is one of the world's greatest financial empires, it is currently
in the process of converting all of its assets into cash Mr. Litoff is reputedly very ill, although no one but his doctor
and his number two man, Mr. Getz, have seen him recently. Steed attempts to return the diamonds, but provokes very little
interest, and when the body of Mr. Litoff is found buried in the grave of his beloved Great Dane, it looks like much more
than £50,000 is at stake...

Steed's department
is guarding M. Roland, A UN negotiator in London for important talks, but cannot
prevent an assassination attempt. Indeed, it seems that one of Steed's colleagues is selling secrets - and Steed finds that

Gale investigate, and find their attention drawn to the local sweet shop.
15/12/1962 The Big Thinker

The government
is interested in using the new supercomputer project named Plato for military missiles; but when Plato is sabotaged, Mrs.
Gale is sent in to investigate, using her background to pose as an anthropologist researching dead languages. Steed claims
to be headed for the Middle East, but has in fact stayed behind to keep an eye on his partner. Mrs.
Gale attempts to find out more by getting to know the project's star mathematician, Doctor Kearns. After more sabotage and
another murder, suspicion falls on Doctor Kearns, but when the real saboteur locks both Kearns and
Mrs. Gale into the refrigerated section of Plato, it is up to Steed to rescue them and help find the real traitor...

A British courier
is murdered in Jamaica for the despatch papers he is carrying,
but the papers are of a completely mundane nature. Steed and Mrs. Gale are called in to track down the killers, and find that
the trail leads to Lima, Perú via Bogotá, and then Colombia,
where they engage in some humorous espionage. They finally trace the problem to Santiago,
and confront a very wealthy man named Miguel Rosas…

When Steed and
Doctor King investigate a mysterious plane crash in Ireland,
they discover that site of the crash is also the same location as several other such crashes, and it was not just luck that
led to the bodies and survivors being taken to a nearby convent. It seems that the nuns and their newfound Mother Superior
are somehow connected to the bank consignments being carried on the planes…

Two small-time
robbers are shot while carrying out a heist, but their attacker leaves the bag of jewels behind. One of the robbers recovers,
and finds himself ‘holed up’ in Steed's apartment; he is questioned by Steed for information about an international
cartel of criminals and murderers known as Intercrime. In order to infiltrate the Intercrime syndicate, Mrs. Gale takes over
the identity of a German criminal named Hilda Stern, but she soon finds herself forced to defend a foreign criminal accused
of stealing from the group, and then to act as executioner to several threats to Intercrime's London operation. Then when
the real Hilda Stern murders a guard and escapes from Holloway, Mrs. Gale finds herself in very hot water...

pottery manufacturer, one of the firm's proprietors, Allen Marling, is on the verge of discovering an unbreakable ceramic.

of the new porcelain. Mrs. Gale happens to be writing a book about ceramics, and she goes undercover as a potential buyer,
while Steed, pretending to be a pottery expert from the government, attempts to find out which crook is doing the killing…

a leak of classified NATO secrets, and the trail leads him to the nightclub where he found employment for Venus. He learns

the two assistants to the nightclub’s stage magician are both murdered in a disappearing cabinet, the general is cured
by a faith healer and his magic boxes. Steed suspects that the two events share a connection…

Steed is assigned
to courier the plans for a new type of propellant, but the inventor, Neville, falls into a trance and then disappears. Steed
searches for the plans in the scientist's library, and finds books that suggest that Neville was heavily into the occult,
and was seemingly under a spell. When Neville then reappears, dead, a malevolent man named Markel arrives, under the pretence
of looking for research notes, but who is in fact searching for the same plans as Steed. After Steed discovers that Markel
contracted a black magic coven to put a spell on Neville, he and Mrs. Gale come into in conflict with both Markel and Cosmo,
the money-grabbing warlock of the coven…

the interest of a criminal mastermind who wants to sell the plague to the higher bidder. Steed calls on Mrs. Gale’s

that the clerk faked his own death so that he would be free to sell secrets to the other side…

In an attempt
to keep Steed from interfering with their American drug smuggling connection, a mob enlists the services of Carlo, a reluctant
circus clown and former Mafia hitman, to assassinate him. Carlo makes the attempt, but loses his nerve at the last minute
and deliberately misses Steed. In order to find Carlo, Mrs. Gale poses as a reporter and photographer to go undercover at
the circus, but supposedly no one has seen the clown since the assassination attempt. Eventually, they manage to locate the
hitman, just as the mob leader arrives to force him to complete the job…

While on holiday
in Greece, Steed is asked to investigate the mysterious death
of a Greek deep-sea diver and part-time smuggler, who died from the bends. Steed discovers that the diver was a member of
an elite group of divers called ‘The Frogs’, who are currently aboard an ocean liner in the Mediterranean.
Steed stows away on the liner, and promptly meets up with Venus Smith, who just happens to be performing on the cruise ship.
He also encounters a strange scientist and his laboratory, a whip-cracking woman from China,
the hot-headed girlfriend of the dead diver, and the dead man’s brother - who is also trying to solve the mystery of
the death. They soon discover that the death was the result of a bathyscaphe experiment, and unfortunately, the perpetrators
will stop at nothing to guard their secret…
