A full 10 years
after the end of the original Avengers, series creators Brian Clemens and Albert Fennell chose to bring the classic British
spy series back with a 70s twist. Instead of the classic 2-person team as before, John Steed was paired with 2 additional
agents--Purdey & Gambit.
Like its predecessor,
the series often featured fantastical plots with diabolical masterminds as villains, but this new version infused the franchise
with a thrilling new feel. Bold colours, spectacular shooting locations, and less-ambiguous plots & characters all combined
to present an exciting new series.
The series was
plagued with financial problems concering foreign investors, but that did not take away from the episodes produced. "New"
Avengers it might be, but Avengers nonetheless. In the second season, a great deal of location shooting occurred, most notably
in Paris, France, then Toronto, Canada, where the show featured its final four episodes.
